PROVIDING NUTRITIOUS MEALS TO
THE UNDERPRIVILEGED ELDERLY

ABOUT A PLATE OF JOY

A staggering 2 in every 5 older Indian adults have experienced food scarcity at different levels. This can cause major health problems like depression and malnutrition, which is a pertinent issue that needs to be solved. The COVID-19 pandemic worsened these problems. Plate of Joy, an initiative that began with distributing rations, has since evolved into an initiative that aims to solve these problems by providing not only two square meals but also monthly toiletries and other external medical aid like walkers, walking sticks, hearing aids, etc. to the underprivileged elderly, all to make their lives more comfortable

This has not only increased the mobility of the elderly, but it has also improved their nutritional levels. Currently feeding 170 people every day, A Plate of Joy is a shining example of how a small act of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others. The poor elderly, with no family, no support systems, and no income, barely surviving by begging for food and often going days without eating, now have hot meals to fill their stomachs. This initiative brings a smile to that set of people who the world has left to die, and if and when they die, they die with a full stomach and peace in their hearts. It is a testament to the power of compassion and the importance of community, and it is a beacon of hope for the elderly, making a real difference in their lives.
